The Orwellermen 450 mile cycle ride from Ipswich to Falmouth
Please help our fundraising effort by donating to one of our chosen charities.
In June 2025 The Orwellermen Sea Shanty Crew from Ipswich, Suffolk, completed 450 miles on their bikes from their home on the banks of the River Orwell on England’s East Coast to perform at the 2025 Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival. Along the way, they stopped at pubs and cafés across southern England, spreading the joy of sea shanties to the landlocked masses while raising funds for the RNLI, Prostate Cancer UK, and Selig Suffolk
To date we have raised over £4,500 for our 3 charities.

Sea shanties are traditional working songs sung by sailors, and these songs tell of something of the life of sailors during the 18th and 19th centuries. The sea still holds perils for those sailing today and we would hope to use our ride to raise funds for this vital charity.
Too many people are still drowning. As a charity, the RNLI depends on donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe.
Please help us support this vital work

Our skipper Gareth was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2022. He had a prostatectomy in 2023 and is now in remission.
Please help us support the work of Prostate Cancer UK’s who’s top priority is funding research to stop prostate cancer killing men. They are investing millions to find better treatments and better tests that can spot fast-growing cancers early, and could be used in a screening programme to save thousands of lives.
Thank you.

Selig provides supported accommodation for homeless people in Suffolk. Our support help people address the challenges that led to homelessness enabling them to live healthier, happier lives and prepare for employment. We also offer move on homes to help people establish themselves in the community. By helping people with their immediate needs and then equipping them to get better jobs they will be able to support themselves in the long term.
In short we show those without a home they are cared for. Please help by donating here.
